I've been at Box for 11 years and in the spring of 2023, I took my first Box sabbatical. My goal was to embrace the traditional "sabbatical" ideal by challenging myself, immersing in new, diverse, and perhaps uncomfortable situations. I achieved this by embarking on a solo cross-country journey in my RV, covering over 10,000 miles and meeting with countless individuals from vastly different backgrounds. Some of the standout moments were getting to know a 100 year old WWII veteran in Colorado and grilling hamburgers for fellow travelers and attendants at an interstate rest stop in Georgia. These experiences reaffirmed my love for America and faith in humanity. Go Box!
After years of struggling to start our family, I decided to look for a new employer who could help me prioritize my family planning goals while continuing to grow professionally. I discovered Box through a webinar about fertility-friendly companies and was fortunate to land a Business Systems Analyst role on the Enterprise Systems team. Box's family-focused benefits, including their partnership with Carrot, have been life changing and instrumental in managing financial relief for expensive reproductive care. What truly made a difference, though, was the supportive culture at Box. Many fellow Boxers understood the challenges of fertility issues, offered encouragement, and supported me in taking additional time off at crucial points in the journey. 18 weeks of paid maternity leave to bond with our precious rainbow baby was a cherry on top!
