Frequently asked questions
Our internships take place in our primary hub offices. Interns, just like all Boxers, are expected to work from their assigned office at least 3 days per week, with a focus on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, and Thursday’s. Our main hub locations, including Redwood City, London, and Warsaw are designed to maximize in-person collaboration and connection. Intern activities include a mix of in-person and virtual experiences.
Interns must be currently enrolled at an accredited university and pursuing a bachelor's degree, in their junior year. Please refer to the job requirements of the role you are applying for to verify the minimum qualifications.
Our internship and early career opportunities are offered on a rolling basis each year that vary by program, though generally:
- US Internships: Technical internship applications open the January prior to the summer of each year. Non-technical positions typically open in late winter or early spring.
- Poland Internships: Technical internship applications open in February for the upcoming summer.
- UK Placement Students: Applications open in October for placements starting the next summer.
We recommend applying as soon as possible.
Box internships vary by program. Summer internships are 12 weeks long with start dates that are flexible based on local academic calendars. Our placement student program in the UK is a 1-year program as an integrated part of studies.
Our internship program is designed to give individuals the opportunity to explore different career paths after graduation. Most of our new graduate hires are former interns who return to Box and continue building their careers with us following a successful summer experience.
For engineering internships, interns will be given a list of teams where an intern will rank their preferences based on interests and passions. While these preferences help inform final team placements, they do not guarantee assignment to a preferred team.
For non-technical internships, team selection is based on candidate interest, team alignment, and available projects.
No, Box has resources available to help interns find temporary housing but interns will be responsible for finding their accommodations for the duration of their internship.
Our internship program is primarily during the summer. However, there are occasional student opportunities throughout the year. Please refer to our careers site for any current openings.
All of our job opportunities require valid work authorization within the country where the position is based. International candidates are encouraged to refer to their local government resources and speak to their university career advisors to ensure they have or can obtain the appropriate work authorization.
